We the People and the Petition Response on Catalonia

Thank you for your petition regarding the people of Catalonia. The United States recognizes the unique culture and traditions of the Catalan region, but considers the status of Catalonia to be an internal Spanish matter. We are confident that the Government and the people of Spain will resolve this issue in accordance with their laws and Constitution.

Gràcies per la vostra petició respecte el poble de Catalunya. Els EUA reconeixen la cultura i les tradicions úniques de Catalunya, però consideren que l'estàtus de Catalunya és un afer intern espanyol. Estem convençuts que el govern i el poble d'Espanya resoldran aquest assumpte d'acord amb les seves lleis i la seva Constitució.

Dear Caitlin Hayden,
Although your response apparently addresses the Catalan issue from a neutral position, it should have mentioned democracy and respect to fundamental human rights like self-determination- as the cornerstone for any solution.
Secondly, the White House has intervened in the past on many other “internal matters” of many countries and regions.
Once the Government of Spain rejects to change its internal laws and Constitution as suggested then we will see a real conflict in southern Europe- and within the EU. Catalan people are a minority within Spain and were expecting a more supportive response from the most powerful democratic government on earth.
Should the British Magna Carta and Act of Settlement had been taken as a basis of negotiation, America would have never been an independent country.
Seemingly, it is the time for Catalans to fight -democratically- for what is rightful. Nobody is going to listen until everything is done.

La Casa Blanca, malgrat que adreça el problema neutralment, no menciona el respecte a la democràcia i als drets fonamentals com l'autodeterminació com a base a per a una solució.
La Casa Blanca, a més, ha intervingut en moltes ocasions en "afers interns" de molts estats.
Un cop el govern d'Espanya refusi modificar les seves lleis i la seva Constitució llavors veurem un conflicte al sud d'Europa i dins de la UE. Els catalans som una minoria dins d'Espanya i esperàvem un suport més gran del govern democràtic més poderòs del planeta.
Si la Magna Carta i l'Act of Settlement Britànics haguéssin estat preses com a base d'una negociació, els Estats Units d'Amèrica no haguéssin esdevingut mai un país independent.
Segons sembla, ha arribat l'hora pels catalans per lluitar democràticament pel que és just. Ningú no ens escoltarà fins que ja estigui tot fet.
